Why Pair SONOS In-Ceiling/In-Wall Speakers with the SONOS Amp?

When SONOS architectural speakers are connected to the SONOS Amp, a sine wave is sent through the speaker cable, allowing the Amp to read the specific impedance values at different frequencies generated by the speakers.
The SONOS Amp then adjusts the DSP (digital signal processing) to perfectly match the number and type of speakers connected. Additionally, pairing the SONOS Amp with architectural speakers enables TruePlay tuning, which optimizes sound based on the room’s acoustics, taking into account walls, furniture, and layout. This makes the speakers “spatially aware” of their environment, providing the best possible sound quality.
TruePlay tuning requires the SONOS app on your smartphone or tablet, and it’s important to note that if you use a wired subwoofer (instead of the Sonos wireless Sub, or no subwoofer at all), TruePlay won’t be available.
This pairing of architectural speakers with an amplifier is a world-first and provides an exceptional audio experience.
Both in-ceiling and in-wall speakers are designed to blend seamlessly into your space. The in-ceiling speakers come with round, paintable grilles, with the option to install square grilles if preferred. The in-wall speakers come with square, paintable grilles as standard.
Our Recommendations:
Whether you choose in-ceiling or in-wall speakers depends on your primary use. If you’re setting up a system solely for music, in-ceiling speakers are ideal, as they provide even sound distribution throughout the room, especially for background music.
On the other hand, if you want the option to listen to both music and TV audio, in-wall speakers are the better choice, as they are positioned at natural listening height, delivering a more immersive experience for watching TV.
For music lovers seeking a sleek, discreet setup, in-ceiling speakers offer the most subtle solution. For those who want both TV and music, in-wall speakers provide the best versatility.
